TheLadders.com–When Everybody Plays
jtherkal: I want $100,000. And now there’s a website that can get it for me. Maybe. I heard about this site a few weeks ago and I liked the concept, and this ad does a great job of explaining the it. When everybody plays, nobody wins. As soon as I see that guy waving his briefcase trying to hit the tennis balls, I’m happy. They do a good job showing that the playing field is filled with baffoons and–unlike CareerBuilder–explaining to me why I should use their site. Although now that I think about it, what’s to stop all those same fools from also getting on theladders.com. Don’t they want $100,000? A.
sjbooher: This is a clever, well-executed idea, and they do explain why to use their site. However, I’m a little concerned about the timing. If you let the viewer’s mind wonder in the first 15 seconds, they may come to their own conclusion before you tell what they are supposed to conclude. This “feels” similar to a Monster or CareerBuilder ad and of course I was thinking about tennis. Find a clever way to put your name out there sooner. B-
