Verizon Wireless — Walking Girl

jtherkal: This ad has almost 4,000 views on our YouTube channel, and I can’t even begin to tell you why. What makes people seek it out? I read the YouTube comments and the answer is: because this girl is hot. Sex still sells, and you don’t really even have to sex it up that much. I like part of the monologue, when she says “I plan on calling back Justin, Troy, Brad…Hey Brad…not Brad…” Perhaps viewers get the sense that this lass is a bit of a sure thing. I guess people notice this, but it still seems like a mediocre effort to me. C+.

sjbooher: Further research seems to indicate that this is Becky O’Donohue, a one-time American Idol contestant. Maybe that explains the popularity of the ad on YouTube? When I first used to see this, I always wondered, “why do they make her strip like that? It seems slutty.” Well, now, I guess that was the point. I do like the music and dialog, I suppose. I’ll stick with the same grade.

American Idol — Ben Roethlisberger

jtherkal: Does anyone even remember that the Steelers won the Super Bowl? I hate American Idol, and therefore hate any commercial for it. The only way this would have been good is if they had Ben pouring tequila down the throats of hot girls in the audience. F.

sjbooher: JOKE IN A CAN ALERT! JOKE IN A CAN ALERT! JOKE IN A CAN ALERT! “I loved that song, until you ruined it.” “Who sings this? Let’s keep it that way.” I’m not even sure what the point of this was. American Idol has plenty of viewers, so did they really need to get this elaborate? A simple reminder would have probably sufficed. Hell, maybe they were just having a little fun. Still stupid. D-.
