sjbooher: Booooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. F.

jtherkal: The ONLY thing these ever had going for them was that they’d put girls with huge cans in really skimpy tops. This year’s crop of girls didn’t lead me to believe a breast was going to pop out. And there were no jokes about getting oiled up or anything? No redeeming qualities here. F-, for not delivering the goods.

Short:

Long:

sjbooher: I didn’t remember if the witnesses names were used (um, they were) during the shortened Super Bowl version, but in the long version, each lady is clearly modeled after one of the famed (infamed?) participants in the baseball steroids hearings. R. Lemons? Awesome. It’s easy to dismiss this as just a boob show (or easy to enjoy it AS just a boob show, ha), but actually it’s pretty well written. Nice attention to detail. (get it? who’s your daddy?). A.

jtherkal: I would have never seen the long version, if not posted here by my friend, so thanks. I’m trying to convince myself that I don’t like these commercials, since they’re just using tits to promote a website…but who am I kidding. Any time there might be a tit on TV, I’m in. And I believe the results have been tremendous (aside from a recent backlash from the Christian community, who apparently dislike giant melons). I guess I’ll give this an A. And in T&A. Whhhhooooooooooooaaaaa! This guy knows what I’m talking about.

sjbooher: FYI, I’ve been informed by one our 2 loyal readers (well, maybe 4 if you count us writin’ folk) that these ads are sexist. I say yes, they probably are, but ad folk don’t make the rules, they are just supposed to exploit them as much as possible. Where will you be GUARANTEED to find a sexist on Super Bowl Sunday? In front of his TV, which this ad, of course. Now he can go start up howtobeasexist.net on GoDaddy.com.

#2.4 — GoDaddy — Danica Showers

jtherkal: GoDaddy continues with their sex sells tactics, which I guess are working for them. But Danika Patrick again? Isn’t she yesterday’s news by now? How about someone newer and hotter? Megan Fox, perhaps? And after the hoax last year (or was it the year before), I’m not going to be tricked into going to their website to look for some titties. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, nope. F.

sjbooher: Why not Megan Fox? Because she is a complete idiot once she opens her mouth. I still like Danica, but this ad is only ok. I definitely like their second one better. C-.

GoDaddy.com — Danica Patrick Teaser — D+

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

The Mouth:
This commercial took me through a range of emotions. First, I thought it was terrible. I hate commercials that are self-aware, so when that guy says “I used to watch…for the commercials,” I throw up in my mouth a bit. And when the whole party runs over to the monitor, the cheese factor goes through the roof. But wait, I thought, they’re running a sexy Danica Patrick ad on their website. Brilliant. I just got done saying how they should never have strayed from their proven tits-sell strategy. And then I went to the website and saw this:

Awful. Nothing makes a man angrier than going somewhere with the expectation of seeing some tits and then seeing no tits at all. The old bait and switch is never appreciated. And the beaver bit is stolen from–and doesn’t even compare to–these Molsen Canadian ads:

Chasing Beaver: A

Scoring Beaver: A
Furry, soft, trimmed.

GoDaddy.com really let me down, although I have to give them some points for trickery. D+.

The Hawk:
I pretty much hated this, but the telling factor would be how many people visit the site? Since the site is their business, if this drove traffic, it was a success. Now, anyone who stopped and thought about it would realize Danica Patrick is not getting naked in a million years, and would not have visited. The beaver aspect was only mildly amusing. I’ll agree with D+, unless someone shows me some web traffic stats.
